Hello all
I start to change small details on my TT and of course, as a newbie, i need some help...if some of you can of course :)
The TT came with regular 21w bulbs on the DRL (day lights) and i tried to change to led bulbs.
But till now, even a pair of ones with canbus didn´t work.
I talked with someone that told me that 21w canbus bulbs should work as side or tail lights, but not as DRL lights, because the resistance should be higher.
But i cannot get those bulbs here.
My questions are:
1.Is this really truth? Do i need special 21w canbus bulbs to work as DRL?
2.Is there anyone there in UK that can give me a contact to buy those bulbs or even someone to whom i can buy it directly? I can pay by paypal or other way.
I will appreciate some help from you.
Audi fans in Portugal are not so friendly and in fact i don´t get any help here...
Regards
Miguel

I had LED DRL's (canbus type) that worked no problem in my 08 2.0T

Coded through VCDS as option 6 which is - Bi-Xenon with separate LED DRL's

To avoid the bulb warning on the DIS do the following when you get in the car....

1. Switch the DRL switch to off.
2. Turn off Bi-Xenon Lights switch completely.
3. Turn on engine.
4. Turn H/Light to sidelights only after about 5 secs or so.
5. Turn on DRL's and then Bi-Xenons to Auto or whatever you fancy and you won't get any errors.

If you do forget and turn on the car engine without the above steps 1st just do as above without the need to turn engine off then back on again any any bulb error on the DIS will go away again.

Sounds like a pain but it's really easy once you get into the habit and a small price to pay to avoid the dirty yellow look.

I've just tried but it didn't work :?
Maybe because mine are not coded as yours? I don't know but i've done the steps twice and nothing happened.
I think the only way is to add a resistance on the cables...
But thanks anyway :)

you need a load resistor in parallell, there are cables with em in and those you just splice into the lamp cable.
anyways, better use a lamp with lots of led so it works fine with reflector. Or even better, go for a normal bulb with colder light.

Yeah thanks, i think i'll try the resistor this weekend.
It seems to be the only solution with led's.
